Hautapu Pine Products Ltd is a family owned company located just north of Taihape. The company was established by Trevor Benson who has a 40 year history in the wood industry. Trevor is now semi-retired and his daughter and two of his sons work for the company. Hautapu Pine has been producing roundwood for 25 years. Production began in the mid ‘80s on a very small scale. With the construction of a new mill in 2001, production increased considerably and has exceeded 1 million posts per year. The new mill has been described by Morbark as the most efficient roundwood mill in New Zealand. Hautapu Pine aims to produce high quality roundwood, and we regularly hear comments from customers about the quality of our product. The specifications of the logs sourced, staff training, quality checking, and overall culture of the company are the features that enable us to achieve the high quality of our roundwood. Hautapu Pine’s location enables economic transportation of logs from many forests, and competitive transportation of finished product to central and eastern regions of the North Island and the top of the South Island.
